Since it's creation, the Theramore Compact has seen some of the best roleplayers on The Venture Co server come and go, each and everyone contributing their part to a living feeling on our Azeroth. Originally founded around a select few small guilds, the Theramore Compact organized and participated in outdoor PvP events, grand RP festivities, choreographed RP stories, a variety of contests and several raids. Since that first day, alot has changed in the membership of the Compact; leaders came and go, guilds disbanded, new guilds were formed, people joined and left their guilds or left the game entirely for a while. Compact members scattered, yet one thing stayed the same; the forged friendships stretched beyond Compact membership.

The current leadership feels that the Theramore Compact can no longer proclaim that it is a community for a few guilds; in practice it's a community for all roleplayers alike, and it's a change we wholeheartedly embrace. That being said, the Theramore Compact wishes to adopt the function of The Venture Co global roleplaying community. We feel that the Compact can form a grand tool into bringing roleplayers together, where they may otherwise feel lonely in their quest for immersion.

Given the large quantity of non-RPers on the server, one other quest we seek to complete, is keep the community as pure as possible for it's purpose; we want to be RPGeneral, not TVCoGeneral. While everyone is welcome to invite friends to these forums ( http://forums.lastbastion.org ) and our ingame chat channel /join TCGeneral, we kindly request everyone to restrict their invitations to roleplayers and do not advertise publically. We all maintain our other relations in different areas, as to reduce possible offences towards others and stay specialized as an RP community.

The Theramore Compact is an IC community with a mainly OOC effect. The IC part quickly summarized: we have been called together by Jaina Proudmoore of Theramore to fight greater evils. While in the past we have had several IC meetings to sharpen the goals and discuss recruitment, the IC progression is up for grabs; there are no current plans. The forums also have an IC part where storylines for your character or your organisation can be written down and/or developped.

The Theramore Compact is intended to be an OOC platform to host member-driven events. Practically this means that you can advertise for your events in the community and at the same time respond to other advertisements. We hope this will increase frequency of events between roleplayers, as much as it may increase the quality of these events. At the same time this means that we expect you to contribute to the events, and hopefully host one of your own. While we will always encourage events and the likes, there is no leadership responsible for hosting events (even though we often will). The only way to make sure stuff will happen is by doing it yourself; if everyone has that mentality we'll have a busy agenda soon!

To participate in the TC, you will not have to leave your guild, or be in a guild. Register on the forums, join TCgeneral chat and meet other roleplayers!
Current TC members, spread the word!

Yours,
Lavina Darkspark, representing the TC Council.

p.s. The forum will receive a minor overhaul the coming week to accomodate the new TC

It was clear that something needed to be done with the compact as it was no longer what it used to be. I am glad that the leaders saw it as well and took action. and I fully support it. As always: history will show it it was the right action.

While talking with Lavi about all this, one thing she said stroke me. "Rely on enthusiasm". The TC is not a company or a guild. It's a community of RPers, carring to see TVC take life in an IC manner. I remember stories and plots being made up all the time when KoL first joined the Compact. Events upon events and raids that included great RP. While the quality of RP within the Compact members is still the same, there is one thing missing: enthusiasm.

I do not blame anyone for this, mind you. I think it's natural, with all the new stuff that are available with the expansion, people kinda "forgot" to RP (not all ofcourse). We were dragged into the "business" of obtaining new items, getting attunened to new instances and exploring new races and territories. In a way, it should have been expected. But I dont think that this is what the Compact was ever about. We have a saying in Greece: "By eating does the appetite grow". So I say we all put our heads together, make events, come up with stories and attend to events that do not directly involve us. I am certain that soon, the old enthusiasm will come back and Role Playing will flourish within the Compact!

Supporting this idea 100%, I cant wait to see the Compact act as a magnet of excellent Role Play once more! Very Happy

Anything which supports RP on TVC is fine by me...

With this in mind... don't be selfish with you RP....

If some good RP is happening, and others could be involved... why not use TCGeneral to advertise it!!!

Seems to me like a way of raising the chance of good RP opportunities not being missed and perhaps seeing people involved in your RP who you do not usually see.

The best example recently was Shadow of the Pheonix recently who, when I pleaded over tcgeneral to be told where any RP was going on, told me the location of a meeting of their's, which then Kazdahn was able to (quite by chance) wander into and watch, involve himself in.

It was great

Hmmm....I dunno...an RP community you say.Well it has certain possibilities...but will it work with so many ppl on it?As for RP stuff hapening less thats caus of BC.I can understand that people are in a constant instancing mode when they hit 70...I know cause thats what I do as well. But we can and should take the time to do RP.So...what I would like to say is we should try to "Deepen" TC before "widening" it.Colton is preparing a wonderful RP event.LEts attend it...and live the good old days of RP with our TC friends and allies.

I think its good for TVC that the theramore compact if reforming, but with the same ideas and enthusiasim as before, and look where it went. Im sorry but my view is that if this really does work it needs a lot more organisation than before. I have a few ideas on this and will be telling them to lavina in game when i get chance, as i dont have the time to write them all at the moment.

Mipi's vision for how TC sould work

Okay so my view for how the TC should work, this may seem strict and a bit, well right wing but hear me out. These ideas are all designed to force regular roleplay amongst all involved.

Firstly i belive IC it should be ran by the community, how ever with all things and to keep meeting to a reasonable length, a small group (the closed council) would decide on what was going to be discussed before everyone (the open council) at the next meeting.

We will begin with what the closed and open councils would be.

The Closed Council

The closed council would comprise of a certain amount of idviduals, representing the key funemental elements of the community. This will not be one per guild involved, this will be people best commited to RPing thier roles. People representing key sectors would be a member for trade (more on this later) a member for crafters, a member for security (global), a member for security (internal (inquistion more on this later)), naturaly the elected leader of TC, and the member of his/her personal body guard. And a couple of key military figures (this could includ pve organisers, a member who regually hosts events and posts good ideas to further TC but does not fall into any other catagory)

The open Council
Okay so this is where it gets a bit hectic, all members of all guilds are welcome to attend this meeting, and the ideas at the closed council meeting will be put to the community. The community can then comment on these ideas, but only after asking permision to speak and being announced by the announcer (probably some cute little gnome). All ideas will be voted on, by all in attendance sending the dedicated votes maste a tell with agree or disagree, nothing else. He will then count be buggers (and probably wish he was dead) then IC say something along the lines of "It is clear you do not agree, the closed council will reconcider any reform preposed, and present ammended version before you at our next gathering"

The Inquisition
This is where im looking to get my kickes from the reformation of the TC, with enough intrest obviously. The inquisition is incharge of dealing with all internal afairs of the Compact, and acting as a police. Though there interogaion techniques are not so lapse, torture is ripe, and forced confessions are regular. The inquisition will be made up of the following Ranks
Arch Lector - the leader (probably me)
Inquisitor exempt - The officers, people who are trusted and also immune from the laws of the land
Inquistor Supreme - This rank is those who have shown them selves of great service, but not quite got the results for the above rank yet.
Inquisitor - So you like to ask questions? Got a nack for dentistry? *evil smirk* Then sign the line.
Practical - So you dont like to ask questions, but your big, your brutish, and you dont mind following your inquisitor round like a lap dog and smacking the shit out of things. Well your going to be right at home here then.

This guild is designed for two purposes really, to cause some great amounts of RP rivalry (which in turn forces more RP) And to fortnightly begin an investigation into some aspect. For example, devona has decided to lead the traders (the guild of merces we will call them for now) and lovley lady lavina is leading the compact, and she aint been getting her taxes, nowt the little pink haired gnome is pissed (well more im pissed as im corrupt as hell and like nothing more than a couple of extra coin) Now i investigate Khell, who is a bit of a weakling under my techniques and gives me the names of x, y, z and erm a letter before x i forgot to use. These people then do not know that some more inquisitors are after tham and as a result are forces to RP, they then may look for help, bringing more people into it, and so forth.

Other Ideas
Okay so other ideas i had where all guilds involved agreed not to use the auction house to trade, and instead we held a twice weekly auction, if an item by a person is up auctioned for two weeks, and not sold, it can then be AH'ed. I belive we should continue with PvP and Raid events as TC, but only ones fully justified in advance and using either a DKP system or a need/greed system. No fucking about with this, we either trust each other and need greed it, or we act like twats and DKP and force attendance. You agree to these rules when you sign up to an event, if you dont like them dont sign up to it, remmber this is an RP community, there fore it should be the RP in the instances not the fucking loot that matters, so up yours really if you wanna argue it.

Well, this is a bried View by azeroths cutest gnome for a better TC

Loving you all and letting you ponder

Mipi!

Good news! Somehow I missed this thread earlier because I thought it was another 'old' sticky Razz

Anyway, I reckon this was discussed in-game? Why didn't you use the "GM Community" forum?

On a side note: I like mipi's idea. Every now and then someone steps forward with an idea like this. Maybe now is a great moment to try and actually make it happen. Be aware though that most attempts to do some RP together on a regular basis seem to have failed after a short while...

Its nice to see some support for my idea, how ever after discussions with lavina, i belive it would not be suited to the TC, the hardcore forced RP for one thing, then the feeling of having thier game play policed. If i was to see alot of support then i would change my mind, how ever i am sceptical

Yeah, it was discussed in-game, because no one used the GM Community forum anymore. I did have you on the in-game mailing list though Morro. Come play!
